Sirdal ski/snowboard school is open in weekends and holidays
Sirdal ski/snowboard school is for anyone who wants to learn or become better at skiing or snowboarding.
We provide education and training for anyone 7 years and up of all skill levels.
You will receive a personal service from our team of dedicated instructors. They will encourage and help build confidence and skills in skiing and snowboarding.
We offer lessons from beginner to advanced level in both skiing and snowboarding. We offer private instruction lessons of 80 minutes for up to 5 persons of similar levels (for snowboarding we recommend max 3 persons). If you wish to book lessons and your party members are of differing levels, we recommend booking separate lessons.
We have taught children younger than 7 years in the past. We do recommend though that should you wish to book younger children they have had some experience on skis/snowboard before. We do also prefer if the parent remains with the child throughout the lesson to provide extra encouragement.
We have some tips and tricks listed below from our most experienced instructors that can help you get young children started on skis. Once they have completed these steps then they will absolutely be ready for a lesson in the ski school.
If you require equipment for your lesson, this can be booked online and picked up from the ski rental building. Please be aware the ski rental building is over beside the chairlift so please allow plenty time to pick up equipment to make it to the ski school meeting place in Hulderheimen in plenty of time for your lesson start time.
NB: If you arrive at ski rental and there is a queue, please go to the kiosk and say you have a lesson, a member of staff will take you to the front of the queue.
If you are not sure what level you are, you can find a guide below.
We recommend booking well in advance especially during holiday times.

Sirdal Ski School Tips for under 7s
If they have never skied before, it is recommended that you ski and play in the snow first. In this way, they will be comfortable with the equipment and feeling of the snow under the skis. For optimal learning, they need to know a few things that they can start with until they have the balance and skills to stand up and stop. Once they have mastered these skills they will be ready for lessons and have a much faster progression.
- Take the skis on and off on your own. .
- Get up on their own if they fall.
- How to get up and walk up the hill – practice walking sideways.
- Keep a good balance while standing, put your skis in a plough position to keep your balance without slipping forward.
- Turn around and walk around on very gentle slopes. Let them ski and plough until they stop and let them try to ski while crossing the slopes.
These skills are necessary to have before the first ski school lessons when they are under 7 years of age. Gaining control and balance is something they have to figure out on their own. It’s like learning to ride a bike – they just have to play around with skis on their feet and practice, practice, practice. You are more than welcome to contact us for more advice! Find us on weekends when we are present at the ski centre.
