Why not then enjoy the fresh snow on randonee skis? It is becoming more and more popular to get through the fresh snow and up to mountain peaks. Check with local people before embarking on a trip. And most importantly; check the weather conditions and the risk of avalanches.
For tips on where you can go on ski touring, check out the page www.frikjoring.no/trips. When you come in to this page you will need to press some alternatives to get to the mountains around Sirdal, this page is on Norwegian. Select the alternative which says “landsdel” andselect the alternative “vestlandet”, and also select the alternative which says “område” and select the alternative “Ryfylkeheiane” . The two trips we can recommend closest to Sirdal Resort are Storeknut and Røseknut.

Storeknut (1015 m)
From the top of the chairlift you can easy access Storeknut 1015 metres above sea level. The trip takes about 1 hour if you walk at a comfortable pace. While walking towards Storeknut, and when you get to the top you will get an amazing view of the mountains which surrounds Sirdal in every direction.
You can take the descent in several directions. Either back to Sirdal Skisenter along the gully, down to Gravasstølen. Or down the very steep “Den vonde vegen” through the cabin area and to the car park. “Den vonde vegen” is not recommended for beginners.

Røseknut (1021 m)
From the top of the chairlift you go over Litla Røsetjønn, down the gorge and over Store Røsetjønn. When you are at Store Røsetjønn Røseknuten will be on your left side. Stay on the ridge that goes under the very top and until you have Røseknut right on the north side of you. Here you can choose whether you want to ski down the fantastic descent down to Kvævestøl.
when you go down this way yo will get both wide descents and a natural sort of half pipe valley if the whether has been convenient. Otherwise, continue only along the ridge around Røseknuten itself and follow the same track as mentioned above down to Gravasstølen.
